Hello Boosters,
Happy New Year
Wishing each and everyone in the FVRR family a Happy, Healthy, and Prosperous New Year.
A season in review…
It started with orientation in May; changes were made this year to streamline the process with still giving the maximum amount of information and better organization. The incoming freshman and parents were not so overwhelmed thanks to all of our “mentoring parents”. Thank you all for fielding questions from your respected sections and making the process easier. On to sectionals and band camp. We moved up to AAAAA and competed with the big bands; our music and drill was difficult but the students were amazing and gave it their all. The student leadership was outstanding. Band camp is a time for hard work, getting to know each other and making friends. This is when the students start to gel together and learn to trust what the staff is teaching them. If you ask your student if it was worth it, they most likely will respond with a “yes”. This is also the time for parents to get to know one another and to step up and volunteer but also to have fun. This season we had a lot of parent participation at the competitions; everyone knew who Fountain Valley was with all the spirit wear, cheering, encouragement and smiles. Our finals trip to Concord via Madera & San Jose and back to Madera again was exciting, challenging, hard working and fun! Thanks to all who chaperoned and helped, we could not have had a more enthusiastic and organized group of people. We had several fall fundraisers which gave you the opportunity to offset your student fees, with less than a third participation the sales were not what we had hoped for. Scrip is an ongoing fundraising activity; help support FVRR by making script purchases part of your regular routine.
What’s ahead for spring...
The concert season will begin in January with Festivals in March. Percussion and Color Guard have several competitions and would love to see parents from the Regiment come out and support them in their exciting shows! Check the calendar for the dates and locations. This year we will be hosting the “Monster Concert”. The elementary and middle schools will perform along with our high school students. This will be a spring fund raising event. More details to come.
It is time to start thinking about next year executive board, managers and committee chairpersons. I challenge all of you to step up and fill 1 of the 43 positions we currently have. Our booster organization runs by people pitching in and making things happen for our students and staff. We have the largest booster club on campus and it takes all of us to volunteer. No amount of time is too small. It’s a great way to meet new people, get involved, and to spend time with your student doing what they love! If you have questions regarding any positions please feel free to contact me or any other board member.
It is important to keep your student accounts current. Our treasurer works very hard by sending you your statement. Please be courteous and let her know if you have problems paying your fees.
The annual spring program and the end of year banquet will be here before we know it. Check the calendar for dates.
Have a Safe and Happy New Year
See you all at the next booster meeting on January 20th @7:00 p.m. in the band room.
