Years back, from 2000-2004, Randy Richards drove the small FVRR trailer to many performances and was always around to help as a proud dad in the Royal Regiment. As Vice-President of Operations at Reliable Lumber, Randy would donate any lumber we needed to build props or projects for any reason to improve the FVHS Music Program.
With the continued cuts in the state funding for art programs, the responsibility to pay for the operations of the high school band falls upon the parent booster group and outside community support from local businesses. The booster organization has a limited budget, and there is very little room for hiccups. Reliable Lumber always comes to the rescue to supply what the marching band needs to compete in California and at the Northern California WBA Western Finals. Randy has also come to the aid of our spring percussion program with wood for props reaching as far as Dayton Ohio at the WGI World Percussion Championships.
Believing in education and the FVRR, Randy still donates lumber each year as needed. The most resent donation was all the wood to build the FVRR Marching Band Equipment Shed near the field to save many hours and energy of students moving teaching equipment to and from the band room. This shed was an Eagle Project headed by Tom Avent, a grad of the FVRR, and is now completed thanks to Randy Richards…even an Eagle Scout dad himself.
